How to Add a New User to Your Website
Instructions:
Adding a new user allows someone else to log in and help manage your website.
Add a new user
- Log in to your WordPress website.
- From the menu on the left-hand side, click Users.
- At the top of the page, click Add New User.
- Enter the new user’s details:
- Username – this is required.
- Email address – enter the email address they will use to log in.
- Role – choose the level of access they need.
- Choose the most appropriate user role:
- Editor is a great option for someone who needs to update website content and images without changing the website’s overall structure.
- Administrator provides full access to the website. We recommend only giving this role to people who genuinely need it, as administrators can make major changes to the site.
- Once everything is complete, click Add New User.
The new user will receive an email with a link to create their password and log in.
Send a password reset email
If someone forgets their password or cannot access their account:
- Go to Users in the left-hand menu.
- Find the person’s account.
- Hover over their username.
- Click Send Password Reset.
WordPress will send them an email with a link to create a new password.
And that’s it! Your new user can now access the website.
