How to Add a New User to Your Website

Instructions:

Adding a new user allows someone else to log in and help manage your website.

Add a new user

  1. Log in to your WordPress website.
  2. From the menu on the left-hand side, click Users.
  3. At the top of the page, click Add New User.
  4. Enter the new user’s details:
    • Username – this is required.
    • Email address – enter the email address they will use to log in.
    • Role – choose the level of access they need.
  5. Choose the most appropriate user role:
    • Editor is a great option for someone who needs to update website content and images without changing the website’s overall structure.
    • Administrator provides full access to the website. We recommend only giving this role to people who genuinely need it, as administrators can make major changes to the site.
  6. Once everything is complete, click Add New User.

The new user will receive an email with a link to create their password and log in.

Send a password reset email

If someone forgets their password or cannot access their account:

  1. Go to Users in the left-hand menu.
  2. Find the person’s account.
  3. Hover over their username.
  4. Click Send Password Reset.

WordPress will send them an email with a link to create a new password.

And that’s it! Your new user can now access the website.
