How to add ALT Tags to your Images

Adding ALT tags to your images helps describe what the image shows and can improve your website’s accessibility and SEO.

Update an image ALT tag

1. Log in to your WordPress website.
2. From the menu on the left-hand side, click Media.
3. Find and click the image you would like to update.
4. In the Alternative Text field, add your ALT tag.
5. Keep your ALT text clear and relevant. You can include keywords if they naturally describe the image or relate to the page.
6. Once you have added your text, simply exit the image details.
7. There is no save button required. WordPress will automatically save the changes.
8. To check the update has worked, click back into the image and confirm the ALT text is still there.

Your image ALT tag has now been updated!
