How to Purchase a Domain using GoDaddy
Instructions:
Purchasing a domain is the first step towards creating your website. GoDaddy is a great option because it’s easy to use, offers reliable support, and makes it simple to manage your domains and connect other services in the future.
Search for a domain
- Go to the GoDaddy website.
- Enter the domain name you would like to purchase into the search bar.
- Review the available domain options.
If your business operates in New Zealand, a .co.nz domain is generally a great choice as it helps customers recognise that your business is based in New Zealand.
Choose your domain
- Select the domain you would like to purchase.
- Click Make It Yours or Add to Cart.
- Continue to your shopping cart.

GoDaddy may suggest additional products such as:
- Website builders.
- Business email.
- Other services.
Choose the options that suit your needs before continuing.
If you use Microsoft 365 for email, you can set up your business email through GoDaddy. If you prefer Google Workspace, you can set that up separately.
Choose your registration period
- Select how long you would like to register your domain for.
You can choose a one-year registration or purchase multiple years if you already know you’ll be using the domain long term.
- Review your order before proceeding.
Complete your purchase
- Create a GoDaddy account if you do not already have one.
- Enter your billing and payment details.
- Complete your purchase.
Once your purchase is complete, your domain will be added to your GoDaddy account.
From there, you can manage your domain, share access with your developer if needed, and connect it to other services as your website grows.
Your domain is now ready to use and you can move on to the next steps of setting up your website.
