Managing and Editing Templates in Bricks
Transcript:
Hi there, edit and manage templates in Bricks.
If you go into the Bricks Builder by clicking on Edit with Bricks here, you’ll load in and you’ll be able to see that you’ve got access to managing all of your sections and elements.
To add something to your templates, you can right-click on the section or element or whatever it might be. On the Structure tab or on the Canvas itself, I find it easier to do it on the Structure, but if you right-click here, you can click Save as Component or Save as Template.
Components are global. Components are the global version of Templates. However, if you make one change in one place, it’ll affect, other sections elsewhere.
If I save, uhm, this header here as a Template, I can then, give it some information.
Section Header. The Template Type, in this case, is a Section. The Bundle, you don’t need to worry about this in most situations, but, you might have some different Bundles, which are just groups of Templates that you can add it to.
You can also add a Tag as well, which can make it a little bit easier to search for if you feel the need.
If I click Save as Template, I can now see there are, I can see here is the section here. The Preview hasn’t loaded in for it, obviously, but, if I wanted to use this elsewhere
If I go, if I just exit out of that, and then I can access the Template Manager by viewing Templates in the top left here, if I click on that, then I click Insert, I can then have that brought in to the page.
You can see that the SVGs have not been, brought in as well, those are just placeholders, if you wanted to bring in images as well, let’s just get rid of that for a moment.
Click on Templates again, in the top right is Import Images, Templates, sometimes, you don’t need to import the images because you’ll be replacing them, but in this case, I’m just gonna check that you can also set to replace the content, but be careful about that, because you don’t want to replace the content of your page with just a single section , in most situations, you probably don’t need to use that.
If I now click Insert, it’ll bring in the icons from that template as well.
That’s the main use case, now we can go onto any other page of the website and we’ll be able to import that in as is.
With, Components, there’s a lot more to them, but, Components aren’t accessed throughout the templates, they’re accessed in the Elements slash Components tab with the plus, you can see the little Components tab here.
You can see there’s a handful of Components here as well, which, you can edit as well if you wanted to, and bring in onto the page.
Again, bearing in mind that these are global and these are indicated by their purple, appearance.
If you want to make changes to a template, you can actually click on the Templates Manager, and then you can click Edit here
So if I click that, it’s going to ask me if I want to leave, I’m happy to do that, now I can view the template, so changes made here will be reflected anytime I access and use this template elsewhere
This is not going to update anyone, any, instances of the template that I’ve used already, it’ll just affect anything going forward, including the one that’s saved in the Template Manager.
Awesome, hope that gives you enough, information about this, and, cheers.
