How to set up Stripe & create a payment link

Instructions:

Stripe allows you to accept online payments from customers. Setting up your account is a simple process, but you will need some business details ready to complete your profile.

Create your Stripe account

  1. Go to stripe.com/nz.
  2. Click Start Now.
  3. Enter your account details:
    • Email address.
    • Full name.
    • Country.
    • Password.
  4. Choose whether you would like to receive emails from Stripe.
  5. Click Create Account.
  6. Check your email inbox and click Verify Email.

Your Stripe account has now been created.

Complete your Stripe profile

  1. Click Complete Profile.
  2. Follow the setup steps provided by Stripe.
  3. Have the following information ready:
    • New Zealand Business Number (NZBN), if applicable.
    • Business details.
    • Business address.
    • Legal business name.
    • Bank account details.
  4. Complete each section to verify your business.

This process usually takes around 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the information you have available.

Explore your Stripe dashboard

Once your profile is complete, you will have access to your Stripe dashboard.

Here you can manage:

  • Balances.
  • Transactions.
  • Customers.
  • Payments.
  • Billing.
  • Reporting.
  • Settings.

You can update business details, documents, team members, billing plans, subscriptions, invoices, and customer settings from the Settings area.

Create a payment link

  1. From the Stripe dashboard, go to Payment Links.
  2. Click Create Payment Link.
  3. Select the product or service you would like to create a payment link for.
  4. Add your product details:
    • Product name.
    • Description.
    • Image (optional).
    • Price.
  5. Click Add Product.
  6. Review the payment page preview.
  7. Update any additional options if needed:
    • Collect customer addresses.
    • Limit the number of payments.
    • Add custom fields.
    • Add questions or information you need from customers.
  8. Copy the payment link shown at the top of the page.

You can use this link in your booking system, redirects, or send it directly to customers.
