Sounds weird but when was the last time you read your own content?
Is it still relevant?
Is it compelling?
Have you fallen into website speak rather than talking like you, to your audience?
Do they know what you offer and why they should buy from work with you?
I’ve reviewed a few websites lately and they sounded OK – just not like the business owners at all. A little stiff, a bit formal and I hate to say it..a bit dull!
These people are NOT like this in real life – they are passionate about their businesses, awesome at what they do and great to work with. BUT their websites showed none of their passion, their quirks, their humor. This is a major part of Website Fundamentals.
And this reminded me that most people are a little bit scared of their own websites…strange but true!
Of course you can write like you speak and actually should. Today more than ever, in our topsy turvy world, we are looking to connect. And you can do that through your website, bring in your personality and a bit of fun.
So if you were your website (stick with me here) and someone landed on you, what would you say?
How would you talk to them?
How would you get them to find out more? And you only have a few seconds to grab their attention and then another minute if they scroll to read more…
Keep it professional and audience-appropriate, let them get to KNOW you.
We want to work with people we know, like and trust, right? So bring your personality and just be you. Build a relationship, don’t just offer up services and sales pitches.
If you would like a review of your site and provide you with a step-by-step action plan – book in a personalized website audit and let’s get your website converting more sales for you!
