I have seen quite a few Facebook posts lately where people have posted links that have no images and just website name.
You can change this, and it’s easy!
Here a step by step for the main platforms WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and Weebly.
For all of them you can set a site wide image and an individual page image too. I recommend setting a site wide image first, then you always have an image displayed incase you forget to set it for new pages.
>Home Menu
>Pages
>Edit page
>Set featured image bottom left sidebar
>Save
>Add social meta
>All pages
>Edit Page
>Scroll to SEO Area
>Social Settings Tab
>Upload image
>Edit Text to display
>SEO plugin
>Social meta
>Upload default image
>Home Menu
>Design
>Logo & Title
>Scroll down to Social Sharing Logo
>Upload Image
>Save
>Home Menu
>Pages
>Page settings
>Social Tab
>Upload Image
>Save
>Menus & Pages
>The relevant page
>Show More icon
>Social Share
>Upload Image
>Select an image
>Add to Page
>Settings
>Social on the left
>Upload Image
>Apply
>Publish
Weebly simply grabs the first image displayed on the page. This does not count background images. This is not currently editable.
To check everything is set up right and FB is receiving updated info go here to debug the page to see what will come up on your Facebook post.
You can apply this to blog posts as well as pages.
AND remember – optimse any uploaded images!
